Caprice des Dieux® was invented by Jean-Noël Bongrain in 1956. At the time, soft cow's milk cheeses with a bloomy rind often suffered from a too powerful taste, ripened quickly, accompanied by a strong smell. The cheese maker then wanted to design a more refined, sweet and gourmet product, capable of quickly becoming creamy while retaining a fine white and satiny robe.
Caprice des Dieux® is produced exclusively in France in two cheese factories: in Illoud-en-Bassigny, in Haute-Marne, where he was born, and in Cornillé, in Anjou. The milks are collected within a radius of less than 70km around each cheese dairy.
By its softness and its balance, Caprice des Dieux® is a creamy cheese that is suitable for all generations. Made from pasteurized milk enriched with cream, it has a silky texture, melting at heart. After maturing for about ten days, it is ready to be consumed, but can be kept for another month in its packaging.
With its pure and fresh taste of fresh cream, it is suitable for all occasions: from the small moment of pleasure to the hungry.
In the kitchen, it brings a feeling of freshness as an aperitif or in a salad.
